We Know You’re Forgetting it… A Vital Part Of Your Night Time Routine.

We Know You’re Forgetting it… A Vital Part Of Your Night Time Routine.

Let’s Set The Scene…

We Know You’re Forgetting it… It’s been a long, hard day at work, and we know that you’re exhausted. We’re guessing that your bed is made and your sheets are freshly washed. You’ve had a shower, made dinner, and completed your six-step skincare routine thoroughly, but are you forgetting something?

In attempt to get everything done during the few free hours we have available in the day; many women overlook a crucial step during their night-time routine.

Can You Guess What It Is?

Not only does no one want to wake up looking like they’ve been dragged through the local park (and trust me, we’ve all been there…), but when you’ve invested your hard-earned income into the highest quality hair extensions, it’s an absolute MUST that you care for them with a little bit of love every night. We want you wake up with hair looking as flawless as it did before you went to bed – thick, bouncy, and voluminous.

A night-time regimen is a fundamental part self-care, necessary to prevent waking up with tangled, knotty, and chaotic hair extensions. Forget about looks alone however, implementing a night-time hair-care routine will help increase the lifespan and longevity of your extensions.

We know reading paragraph after paragraph can get a little boring, so we’ve made it short, sweet, and fun for you.
Here are some of our night-time routine recommendations:

Brush Your Hair Extensions.

Because no one likes knots.

Brushing your hair is an essential part of your hair extension aftercare routine. Regular brushing helps maintain smoothness while decreasing hair knotting and matting.

We Recommend Using…

For everyday use we recommend using a boar bristle brush for their excellent detangling and smoothing properties. The bristles are designed to glide through your hair without causing friction. This will ultimately reduce breakage and damage long term.

Our Cushion Paddle Brush is the perfect everyday brush to keep your hair feeling and looking its absolute best.

However, for in-shower use we prefer to use a Detangler Brush. Our detangler brush is designed to be gentle on the hair while wet, with flexible bristles that glide through the hair without pulling or tugging excessively.

Night Time Hairstyles? If You Insist.

Who doesn’t love a comfy hairstyle to keep those strays out of your face, especially before bed? Brush your hair with your favourite paddle brush (we recommend the Yovanka Loria paddle brush, obviously), into a loose ponytail or a loose plait before going to sleep; this stops tangling and knotting overnight due to movement.

Silk Pillowcases (in other words, a life changing purchase)

Our biggest recommendation and from many sources arguably our most life-changing investment are the Mulberry Silk Pillowcases! Silk pillowcases have a soft, smooth surface causing the hair extensions to glide over the fabric rather than rub against abrasive cotton fibres that make up majority of traditional quilting fabrics, causing friction and breakage. Traditional bedding materials such as cotton are more porous than silk, absorbing more of your hair’s moisture. Whereas silk helps the hair retain moisture from products and your hairs natural healthy oil production. Additionally, silk pillowcases are exceptional at protecting your hair from static electricity, which if exposed to extensions, can cause the ends of the hair to become frizzy, dry and snap.

Bonus! silk pillowcases add that 7th step to your night-time skin routine with 0 effort, maintaining skin hydration, preventing fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing dirt and bacteria build up, preventing breakouts and acne.

Important Note: you need to keep in mind that silk pillowcases need to be 100% silk. – if it’s an alternative fabric that replicates silk, it may look pretty but unfortunately it won’t protect your hair.

We’ve “mansplained” silk pillowcases, and now you want to buy one? Say less.
After years of trial and error, our educated team have found their non-negotiable silk pillowcase brand. If you’re dying to get your hands on one, ask your stylist at your next appointment (and if you just can’t wait, we don’t blame you, send us a DM and get one now).

Following our lifelong passion for silk pillowcases, we also highly recommend having silk hair ties within reach. Silk hair ties reduce creases and breakage caused by the tension and pressure of regular hair elastics. Silk hair ties are a great option to tie your hair in a low pony or loose braid before bed. Additionally, they can also be your choice of hair tie throughout the day (if you feel like looking way more stylish than all of your co-workers).

These simple and easy steps are all you need to incorporate to avoid hair damage while sleeping. Treating your hair is as important as treating skin, body and mind.
